Drop this one in the pointless news bucket. President Klaus, an economist, has challenged former Vice President Al Gore to a debate over global warming. This will never happen because, for one thing, Mr. Klaus is busy meeting with Dick Cheney this week. But also, this seems to be a case of shameless self promotion by Mr. Klaus who has just published a book about the global warming “conspiracy.”
Here’s an idea: why not have scientists debate global warming instead of politicians? Oh yeah, that wouldn’t be much of a debate since reputable scientists have already reached a consensus.
Read the article here.

A non comprehensive list of consensi:
1) The earth is flat
2) The earth is the center of the universe
3) Africans are a different species from European hominids.
4) Malaria is caused by swamp gas
5) The galaxy is the extent of the universe
6) Time is constant
7) Sodium causes dangerous hypertension (very recent one)
ect….
Wow, you must really know your latin if you can pluralize consensus. Of course you completely screwed up et cetera.
Anyway, to get to your point, parading a list of “consensi” that have later been disproved is a fun exercise, but unfortunately it is completely useless as a response to this story. The question is whether the politicization of global warming should be allowed to reach a point where we would even have POLITICIANS debating the issue instead of reputable SCIENTISTS.
