Your reference to Jesus is based on the misconception that the Bible says he was born of a virgin. It doesn’t.

What the Bible says is the father of Jesus was someone other than the man his mother married.

This was unacdceptable for the Church fathers. On the basis of a mistranslation and twisting Jewish idiom into a Greek mould they upgraded his birth to something acceptable to the Greek mind.

Not all charcoal is biochar. True biochar is the result of heating biomass in an emission free pyrolysis reactor devoid of oxygen. Biochar has been shown to be a very effective soil amendment in numerous studies in South America and Japan. It is becoming popularized enough in the US that Biochar Xtra is now even being sold on Ebay. Others are using the bio-oils derived from biochar production to replace fossil fuels. Some folks are alarmed at the possibility of vast tracts of land being denuded to produce biochar. This is not a valid concern because, due to its very low density of from 20 to 35 pounds per cubic foot, the transport of biochar over long distances is not economically feasible.

I agree with most of the UCLA article, but note that those things that FDR was criticized for within it are not to be confused with the idea of stimulus spending in general, but rather specifically the “anti-competition and pro-labor measures” within it. Obama has learned from history, and isn’t pushing for higher wages right now, and is doing just the opposite on the anti-trust front.

My understanding is his paralysis was the result of a diving accident when Charles dove head first into a swimming pool without first ascertaining it contained water. Such a rash and reckless act undermines his credibility and judgment in my view.

And the self-loathing he suffers as a result of his own negligent act goes a long way toward explaining his Strangelovian belief system.
